Let's Make This Time Different
|
January 4, 2008
Well, here we are again. On the other side of another holiday season, full of determination that this year we’re going to do it. We’re finally going to shed those extra pounds once and for all.
Like you, this is not my first trip down the scale.
Well, I’m wondering what exactly is going to make this time different?
And I’m not alone. We’ve been getting a flood of emails lately from the folks who’ve taken our weight loss survey:
- Katrina said, “I’m desperate – I want to lose the weight but I don’t know how to get started. And I don’t think I can handle another trip around the Yo-Yo!”
- Nate wanted to know, “What kind of diet should I go with that will work with my Diabetes and high blood pressure?”
- Patricia sent us a heart-wrenching email about how she’s tried plan after plan, only to wind up heavier now than she’s ever been. To make matters worse, her world fell apart over Thanksgiving when her husband of 17 years declared he just “wasn’t attracted” to her anymore – and left her to raise their young son alone.
Message after message has poured in asking the same question: Why have the diets I’ve been on in the past failed me, and what must I do differently to succeed this time?
Well, this email is going to do two things: In just a moment, it’s going to answer that question. I’m going to tell you exactly why your previous attempts have failed, and precisely what you can do differently – without purchasing any book, plan or service – that will help you succeed this time.
And then, I’m going to make a very exciting announcement.
Are you ready? Here goes!
First of all, the reason your previous diets failed is almost certainly not you. You see, nearly all the popular plans, books and services out there fail in one main regard: They don’t work with your natural body chemistry, or take into account the way you use and store energy.
When we eat, our body converts the food into fuel it can use. Right now, we’re going to focus on one of those fuels – the glucose that comes from the carbs we eat. No matter where those carbs come from – be it whole wheat bread or a cupcake – they’re converted into glucose.
If we have too much glucose running around our bodies (also known as “high blood sugar”), it’s like having excess fuel. Our body, being a very efficient engine, doesn’t want to waste that fuel. So guess what? That sugar gets stored as fat.
Which means the number one thing you can do in order to make this the last time you ever need to lose weight is to regulate your blood sugar.
So today’s action plan is to stop worrying about fat grams or calories. You don’t need specially packaged meals, or to count points. Instead, focus on foods that won’t raise your blood sugar by eating lean meats, and plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.
When you do eat carbs of any kind, try to lessen the impact they’ll have on your blood sugar by balancing them with some lean protein and some healthy fat. So instead of just eating an apple, add some lowfat cheese slices and some nuts.
For more detail on this action plan, we turn to our big announcement! You see, all the emails we’ve been getting have caused Dr. Scott and I to do some serious research.
Dr. Scott knows how you can lose weight safely and effectively. But we wanted to uncover for ourselves why so many of today’s popular diet plans fail, over and over.
And we’ve uncovered some facts about the weight loss industry that are so shocking, so damning…
That our lawyers have told us to keep them to ourselves.
But we just can’t do that. Because we know that millions of people will be turning to those products, plans and services in the next few weeks, desperately hoping that this will be their solution.
So, regardless of the dire consequences our lawyers are predicting, we’re going to tell you what we’ve discovered. But let me warn you right now: It’s going to make you smoking mad!
