Biggest Loser

What about Biggest Loser? Does this work long term? You talked about Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers. Just wanted to know what your thoughts are on this program. Thanks

RE: Biggest Loser

Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to research the book or the "Biggest Loser" plan that is put out for the public. I have, however, done a little digging about the show. Plus, we've gotten contacts from a couple former contestants on the show. Of course, those contestants have signed confidentiality agreements an inch thick, so we can't name them.

But what they've said is that the contestants on the show routinely do things like take laxatives, sit in saunas, and exercise as much as 8 hours a day to move the scale for the competition. Not only are these things unhealthy, they cannot be duplicated by the regular viewer

Beyond that, both former contestants gained their weight back quickly when the show was over, and they claim that many of the other contestants have as well.

My beef with the show is the fact that the rate at which contestants lose is not healthy or attainable by the average viewer, and it makes a normal, healthy loss of say 2-3 pounds a week seem insignificant. It discourages me to watch it.

Anyway, I'll make it a point to look into the plan further and let you know what I discover.

Hope this helps!
