Don't Let This Little-Known Concept Keep You From Success

Well, how are you doing so far?

It’s now 2 weeks into the New Year, and if you’ve been following our Daily Action Plans, you’ve no doubt begun to see some results.

If you haven’t, it’s certainly not too late. We’ve given you enough solid information in these emails alone to start making the changes that will keep you thin and healthy for a lifetime.

Of course, if you need more – and many of us do – Dr. Scott and I will be going into a lot more detail during our upcoming webinar. We’ll also be discussing things we can’t bring up in an email.

One of the things we’ll be discussing during our Emergency “Weight Loss Web Summit” is something I wanted to bring up with you today. It’s a concept I’ve not really seen discussed anywhere else – in fact, until Dr. Scott explained it to me, I’d never heard it related to health or weight loss at all.

But it should be discussed, because it has dramatic implications for your health.

The concept I’m talking about is your body’s acid/ base balance. You’re probably familiar with the basic concept of PH balance – think of the commercials for the deodorant that’s “PH balanced for a woman.”

Most of understand what an acid is. And a base is just the opposite. Well, our entire body is made up of various liquids, secretions and fluids. And every one of them has a specific PH level that must be maintained for your body to function properly.

If that PH gets out of whack – if it’s too far to the acid or base side – cells become poisoned by their own toxic waste and die. It’s just like when acid rain destroys a forest, or alkaline (another word for base) wastes pollute a lake.

It’s bad news for every system in your body, from the beating of your heart to the neural firing in your brain.

More to the point of our discussion, when our cells can’t get rid of their waste properly, you begin to store up toxins in your body. The acid/base theory says you may be storing fat not only when you eat too many calories, but also when you have too many toxins in your body.

In other words, when you’re storing too many toxins your cells get “too sick” or polluted to burn fat efficiently.

But the tricky part is, you don’t want to have a completely neutral PH – that’s when your PH is a perfect ‘7’, and is neither acid nor base. Different systems in the body require a different PH balance, but overall the body works best when it’s in a slightly alkaline state. When your body is in an alkaline state, it’s able to move toxins out more efficiently and this can lead to weight loss.

You can adjust just how acid or alkaline your body is by what kind of foods you put in your mouth. While there are many charts where you can look up which foods can cause your body to be acid and which cause your body to be alkaline, but it can be summed up with the following:

Acid Forming Foods: Meat/Grains
Alkaline Forming Foods: Fruits/Vegetables

While there are notable exceptions to this, the rule holds most of the time. So while the high protein diets have it right in that they help keep your blood sugar down, they have it wrong because eating too much meat without fruits and vegetables pushes the body into an acidic state.

So Today’s Action Plan is to start making sure most of your meals are balanced between acid and alkaline forming foods. In other words, using the Glycemic index and picking foods that keep your blood sugar down isn’t enough. You could accomplish that with a high-protein diet, but still be eating too many acid forming foods.

Or, you could be trying for a vegan or low-fat diet, and be concentrating on low-GI tofu and veggies, and wind up eating too many alkaline-forming foods.

Both could be very bad for your health, and make it that much harder to lose weight.

Dr. Scott and I will be talking a lot more about this concept next Tuesday at the Weight Loss Web Summit. We’ll also tell you how you can get charts and tools to determine the acid/ base response to a wide range of foods.

But again, time is running out to register, so to reserve your spot!
